Florida Resort Communities, Compared Honestly
Gated communities where the pool complex competes with the theme parks for your children's attention. Here is what each one actually offers and who it suits.
What you get in a resort community
These are not ordinary residential streets with a shared pool. The larger communities run water parks with slides and lazy rivers, clubhouses with restaurants and bars, gyms, tennis and basketball courts, playgrounds, and gated entries staffed around the clock. Your rental includes access to all of it.
The practical effect surprises most first-time visitors: you will use the theme parks less than you planned. Families routinely buy seven days of park tickets and use five, because the children would rather be on the slide at the clubhouse. Budget four or five park days rather than seven and you will spend less and enjoy it more.
The five communities
Windsor Hills
The closest of anything we host. Water park, clubhouse, cinema room, fully gated. Homes are a little older, and priced accordingly.
Explore Windsor HillsReunion Resort
Three championship courses and a water park. Larger, more finished homes. The pick if anyone plays golf.
Explore Reunion ResortStorey Lake
Lazy river, slides, splash zone and kayaking. Works when the teenagers and the toddlers need different things from the same afternoon.
Explore Storey LakeChampionsGate
Built around the Oasis Club. Just off I-4, so the easiest from the airport. Retail plaza at the entrance for groceries and dinner.
Explore ChampionsGateSolterra Resort
Newer homes, clubhouse and lazy river, calmer in the evenings. Often prices more keenly than the bigger names for a comparable house.

If you are doing parks every day with young children, proximity beats everything and Windsor Hills wins. If anyone plays golf, Reunion. If you want the biggest water park and the easiest motorway access, ChampionsGate. If you want newer and quieter, Solterra. If your group spans a wide age range, Storey Lake.
